Market Analysis Summary

The market will consist out of three segments on which we will focus our marketing efforts: Students, Private Pilots and Corporate Clients.

Market Segmentation

Students - Gone with the Wind Aviation will be focusing on students interested in obtaining their private pilot certificate and the other desired flight ratings.

Private Pilots – we will offer aircraft to rent for private pilots wishing to build their flight hours.

Corporate clients – GWTW Aviation will market to businesses that need aircraft for corporate use.

Our aim is to advertise in flying magazines and to have a presence on Air Show days.

Target Market Segment Strategy

We will focus our marketing strategy on prospective students that are looking for a centralised, easily accessible flight instruction school run by exceptional instructors. The aircraft must fly several hours each month, and therefore we will offer flight packages to corporate clients which will aim to entice them into regular use at an affordable price.

Each prospective client that visits GWTW Aviation's website will be able to download a private pilot price sheet with approximate costs and an electronic copy of our monthly newsletter.

Market Needs

The recent closure of two major players in the Gauteng aviation training industry, Pretoria Flying School and Aviators National, has caused a huge gap in the market and an increased demand for training facilities. As our facility is relatively central to the city dwellers of Gauteng, as well as other larger cities in North West such as Rustenburg, it offers the perfect solution for those not wanting to travel great distances to attend our flying school or make use of our other services.

Market Trends

There are a rising number of corporate clients looking for a business to business solution for their aircraft rental needs, and currently we are the only company in Gauteng that will offer this service.

Recently the demand for flight instruction centres has also increased due to ample job opportunities in this industry.

Market Growth

The rental aircraft in the Gauteng area are averaging over 90 hours of revenue flying per
month. This point towards an increased number of new students, additional ratings for current students, and more disposable income being used to obtain the long-time personal dream of obtaining a pilot's license.

Main Competitors

Angel Wings

Strengths: They have a variety of rental aircraft from which to choose, and excellent
marketing in the field. Because of an all-female management team and ownership, their
exposure to women in aviation is enormous.

Weaknesses: After an accident with one of their aircraft due to maintenance problems, rumours have been doing the rounds that their aircraft are not maintained on a regular basis.

Blue Sky Aviation

Strengths: They provide competition to Angel Wings, which gives an alternative for
Clients residing in Johannesburg and surrounds. They have several rental airplanes to choose from.

Weaknesses: They do not have a web presence and general lack of exposure.

Management Summary

The main investors, who will also manage GWTW Aviation, are George Zimmerman and Derek Duncan.

Organizational Structure

Gone with the Wind Aviation will rely on the two owners for decision making and financial
investing when needed. The ultimate responsibilities of the entire company will be given to the owners.

GWTW Aviation will employ two flight instructors, who will, together with Derek Duncan, be responsible for running the fly school.

Management Team

George Zimmerman has been in a management position at PVC Consulting for 18 years and thus has the necessary managerial skills to oversee the day to day operations. Derek Duncan has been a flight instructor for Port Elizabeth Aviation for 10 years, and has gained valuable experience in the running of Fly Schools and aircraft rentals.
